A tragic explosion at the Sigachi Pharma chemical factory in Telangana’s Sangareddy district claimed eight lives and left 26 others injured on Monday. The incident triggered widespread grief and calls for urgent support for the affected workers and their families.
Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS) leader K Kavitha expressed deep sorrow over the tragedy and urged the government to ensure advanced medical care for the injured and extend financial assistance to the victims’ families.
“The news of a massive fire accident at the Sigachi Chemical Factory in Pasamailaram, Sangareddy, is distressing. The government should provide better medical services to the workers injured in the reactor explosion. The families of the deceased workers must be supported,” Kavitha wrote on X.
The blast occurred between 8:15 and 9:35 AM in the Pasamailaram Phase 1 area, and 11 fire tenders were rushed to the spot to contain the blaze. Police and rescue teams including the NDRF and SDF also arrived swiftly.
A police official confirmed that six people died on-site, while two others succumbed to injuries during treatment at Chanda Nagar hospital. Of the 150 workers on duty, 90 were present in the affected area at the time of the blast.
Rescue operations and firefighting efforts are still underway as officials work to secure the site and prevent further casualties.
Congress President Mallikarjun Kharge also expressed his condolences, stating: “Extremely anguished by the loss of precious lives following the blast. My thoughts are with the families of the deceased. We wish the injured a speedy recovery. The state government and authorities are working on a war footing to assist the victims.”
The cause of the explosion is under investigation, and the state government is expected to announce relief measures for those affected.
